Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening confirming they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.

The team did not mention the player specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, posted a set of images on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the initial part of this season following an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left several individuals injured. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
