Trump Business Sought to Bring In Nearly 200 Workers on Visas in 2025

The former president’s family business increased its hiring of overseas employees on temporary visas this period, while his administration was placing obstacles for other companies attempting to do the same, a report published recently claimed.

According to information from the federal labor department, the Trump Organization aimed to hire at least 184 foreign workers in the coming year for temporary positions at the former president’s Mar-a-Lago resort, two golf clubs and his Virginia winery.

The number of requests for H-2A and H-2B visas for workers including waitstaff, clerks, housekeepers, kitchen staff and agricultural laborers was the record submitted by the organization, and increased from over 120 in 2021, when Trump’s first term concluded.

It was also the fifth time in 10 years that Trump had sought to bring in more than 100 foreign employees for seasonal jobs at his Florida resort, according to available data.

The disclosure comes amid a crackdown on legal immigration by his administration that has included the introduction of a substantial charge on H1-B visas; extra scrutiny of the activities of the millions of people who already hold US visas; and restrictive new rules for international scholars and reporters.

Overall, the business sought to hire 566 overseas workers over the period Trump has been in the presidency, from his first term and during 2025.

Significantly, the former president was questioned by some in the Republican party this week for remarks justifying the necessity for foreign workers when a business was unable to find people with “particular skills” to fill certain positions.

“You can’t just say a nation is coming in, going to invest $10bn to build a facility, and going to take people off an unemployment line who haven’t worked in five years, and they’re going to start making their defense systems. It isn’t feasible that well,” he told a interviewer after she suggested that foreign workers undercut the pay of American employees.

The administration refused a request for comment, and the Trump Organization did not immediately respond to an request for information.
